Thursday Devo

If we’re real with ourselves, being a servant isn’t easy. It’s way more natural to focus on ourselves. But, Jesus showed us a better way. He didn’t come to be served—He came to serve (Matthew 20:28). And He calls us to do the same.

In a world that values status and recognition, Jesus flips the script. He invites us into a life of humble service. Being a servant for Jesus means putting others before ourselves, using our time, gifts, and resources to reflect His love. It doesn’t have to be big or flashy. It could look like helping an older member of your church, encouraging a friend in your youth group, or showing kindness to a neighbor. When we serve others, we show them what the love of Jesus looks like. It’s not about attention but about reflecting the character of Jesus to the world around us. Serving may not always feel cool, but it’s powerful. It shapes us to be more like Him.

Application: In what areas of your life can you put others' needs before your own, and how would that reflect Jesus’ love?
